Pharmaceutical & Biopharmaceutical Production

Your contamination control strategy has a gap your SOP doesn’t cover.

In GMP production, every contamination variable is controlled and documented. Sterilization validated. Environmental monitoring continuous. Extractables/leachables characterized. The elastomeric seal surface — fluid-contact, present throughout upstream and downstream operations — has never been documented for surface particulate cleanliness. That gap is auditable.

The Specification Gap in GMP Environments

USP <381> and <382> address extractables and leachables from elastomeric closures — not surface particulate. No component-level standard for elastomeric seal surface cleanliness exists within the GMP regulatory framework. ISO 3601-3 surface inspection at ×2 magnification — the 2× defensive wall — is structurally blind to particles at ≥1.3 µm. The absence of a standard is not evidence of acceptable cleanliness.

CCD in GMP Process Equipment

CIP/SIP cycling creates exactly the thermal and pressure transients that drive Cyclic Contamination DisplacementTM (CCD). Every cleaning cycle, sterilization event, and pressure hold is a CCD condition. Contamination released from seal surfaces during these events enters the process stream — not as a batch event, but cumulatively over the equipment lifecycle.

The 11 Contamination Classes

  • Talc (1–20 µm) mold release agent, anti tac agent, compounding filler
  • Carbon black (0.01–100µm) compounding filler pervasive to rubber molding factories
  • Skin squames (20–50 µm)
  • Sebum (film)
  • Textile fibers (50–2,000 µm+)

These are just 5 of 11 contamination classes which act alone or in agglomerations creating production batch rejection risk. Read the full technical white paper for the complete taxonomy and impact of all 11 classes on the Intelligence page

Bioburden Reduction†

VeriClean processing achieves 92–100% bioburden reduction per ISO 11737-1 validation. This is a process validation finding — not a per-batch deliverable and not a VCQ output. It is not batch-monitored and is not a guarantee of sterility.

† Bioburden reduction validated per ISO 11737-1. PRP conducts periodic process revalidation to confirm continued performance. This figure represents process validation data and is not a per-engagement deliverable.

VeriClean Seals™

GMP elastomeric seals processed in ISO Class 7 cleanroom. Particles measured from ≥1.3 µm. Backwards compatible with existing GMP equipment BOM specifications — sources exact OEM-specified seal wherever possible. PRP thrives in source- and change-controlled environments. No requalification required.

Available for seals for pharmaceutical manufacturing, bioreactor seal supply, fill/finish operations, and CDMO seal supplier qualification. USP compliant seal materials including USP Class VI silicone and EPDM compounds available.

Your seal supplier will ship seals in spec. The spec is the problem.
